Adjust Your Objectives

Determining the right grantmakers, thinking through a strategic approach, and developing your plan of action are all critical steps to take when attempting to raise grant support for your organization. However, once you have gone through these steps, we suggest that you revisit your initial grantseeking goals and objectives to see if they may need some adjustment.

Before you began your research, you developed objectives that identified the types of grantmakers you are pursuing and the amount of funds you'd like to secure. Based on your research, you may need to adjust these elements of your objectives. For example:

  • The deadlines for funding may be later than expected, so you may need to extend your timeline. (Or they may be closer and that too requires an adjustment.)
