New Search Terms Published in the U.S. Charitable Database

May, 2010 – The GrantStation research staff has recently added several new categories to the Areas of Interest in the U.S. Charitable Giving database. (To access this database you must be a GrantStation Member and logged into the website.)

Under Health, the Prenatal/Maternal Health category has been added. The topics covered under this category include, but are not limited to:

  • newborn healthcare;
  • pregnancy/childbirth issues;
  • prenatal care; and,
  • maternal healthcare.

Under Environmental & Animals, the following categories have been added:

Environmental Health: The topics covered under this category include, but are not limited to:

  • environmental health policy;
  • occupational health/industrial hygiene;
  • prevention of environmental hazards that affect health; and,
  • the relationship between human health and the environment.

Green Economy/Building: The topics covered under this category include, but are not limited to:

  • environmentally responsible/sustainable building;
  • green job creation;
  • environmentally-friendly products;
  • interdependence of the economy and the environment;
  • resource/energy efficient building; and,
  • sustainable economic development.

In addition, the Islamic/Muslim category has been added under Religion & Ethics. This category profiles grantmakers that support Islamic/Muslim programs/organizations or programs that focus on issues of importance to the Islamic/Muslim community.

Under the Types of Support search area, the Events/Sponsorships category has been added. This category profiles grantmakers who provide sponsorships for special events, such as fundraisers, benefits, walk-a-thons, raffles, auctions, charity tournaments, etc.
