Council of Senior Centers and Services of NYC Announce Partnership with GrantStation
July 2, 2010 –The Council of Senior Centers and Services of NYC (CSCS) has recently joined a list of over 170 organizations based in the U.S. who distribute the weekly GrantStation Insider to their constituent organizations.
“We are very pleased to add CSCS, and the providers with whom they work, to our distribution list for the weekly GrantStation Insider, said Cynthia M. Adams, CEO, GrantStation. “With over 260,000 readers, our researchers are cognizant of the different types of organizations receiving the weekly Insider and carefully sort through the dozens of announcements each week to make sure we have a something for everyone.”
A nonprofit organization founded in 1979, CSCS currently serves more than 300,000 older New Yorkers through a network of over 300 senior centers, housing, adult day service programs, services for the homebound, mental health services and other programs directed by the more than 150 senior service sponsor organizations that constitute the membership of CSCS.
According to Igal Jellinek, Executive Director, CSCS recently developed a partnership with GrantStation “to share new funding sources for our members via GrantStation’s weekly e-newsletter, the GrantStation Insider. We want to provide as many tools as possible to keep their programs running in these difficult times.”
Jellinek went on to say, “The providers we work with reach every neighborhood in New York City. It is estimated that 1 in 3 seniors in New York City live in poverty which is almost twice the national rate. Poverty and near-poverty conditions are particularly prevalent among minority populations where Latino, Asian and African-American seniors subsist on income levels well below the median. Senior centers are called upon to meet the emerging needs for an increasingly older population, as the 85+-year-old population is now the fastest growing segment of the City's population.”
“Faced with the challenges of this demanding environment, these agencies require the resources CSCS provides. CSCS's goal is to prepare and position community-based providers to be capable of meeting current and emerging needs to ensure the highest quality of life possible for New York City's elderly. We accomplish this in a number of different ways: public policy and advocacy; capacity building; timely publications; innovation; group purchasing; technology and special initiatives,” said Jellinek.
“This new partnership with GrantStation is another new initiative that we are proud to provide the agencies with whom we work,” said Jellinek.
The GrantStation Insider, a weekly e-newsletter full of upcoming grant deadlines, is published 48 times a year via GrantStation.com, Inc. To view a copy, or learn more about the e-newsletter partnership program, click here.
