| The idea behind the GS-TAP is
to help organizations learn how to develop a grantseeking
strategy and incorporate this strategy into their
overall fundraising plans. |

GS-TAP is a newly launched program that can help association
members, nonprofit organizations, and government field
offices learn to identify and secure new grant dollars.
This is a simple program to implement, and there is
virtually no management needed by the associations, grantmakers
and government agencies that participate in the program.
How does the GS-TAP work?
-
An association, grantmaker, or government agency
purchases a set of GrantStation Memberships (see rates
below).
-
GrantStation provides Membership Activation Forms,
customized with the purchasing organization’s
logo.
-
The purchasing organization distributes the Membership
Activation Forms as needed to its members, grantees,
and field offices.
-
The recipient organization faxes the Membership
Activation Form to GrantStation when ready to begin
using GrantStation.
-
GrantStation activates the membership on receipt
of the Membership Activation Form, immediately providing
a user name/password for the new Member, and scheduling
an on-line tour and training on how to use the research
tools and resources on GrantStation.
-
The tour/training focuses on how to use GrantStation
to leverage additional funding for any program or project
that has already been funded, or to identify grantmakers
(and a grants strategy) for a new program. (We encourage
our new Members to include a board member/other staff/or
volunteer(s) in this training.)
-
The tour/training can last up to three hours, depending
on the complexity of the project and the skill level
of the recipient organization. Most tours/trainings
take about 1.5 hrs.
-
Immediately following the tour/training the recipient
organization is sent an e-Tracking Form. Each organization
keeps track of grant proposals submitted during a one
year time period using GrantStation as a research tool.
The organization notes those grant requests that are
funded, denied, and pending.
-
At the end of one year, GrantStation conducts a
survey of the recipient organizations and provides
the purchasing organization with a final report which
clearly identifies the return on investment.
Each recipient organization is encouraged to call or email
GrantStation throughout their year-long Membership if they
have any questions or need guidance in the area of grantmaker
research, grant writing, or grant management. There is
no extra charge for this component of the GS-TAP program.
Each recipient organization receives the weekly e-newsletter,
the GrantStation Insider, which keeps the concept
of on-going grantseeking upper-most in their minds.
What are the outcomes or benefits purchasing organizations
can expect?
By teaching the staff of recipient organizations how to
identify new grantmakers and leverage grant awards, they
become fully aware of the impact of every grant and how
to use that award to bring other donors to the table. This
is particularly important when the grant awarded does not
cover the entire cost of the project.
Have others used this program?
There are numerous organizations including grantmakers,
national and regional associations, government agencies,
etc. who have implemented the GS-TAP with great success.
Take a look at a few Case
Studies to see the sort of return on investment purchasing
organizations might expect.
