To print and edit, please use this Word document.
  • The Advisory Board of the Organization has established the Endowment Fund, the purpose of which is to sustain the Organization for decades to come.
  • The initial goal of the Advisory Board is to raise $100,000 by July 2008.
  • The Advisory Board has pledged $20,000 toward this goal and expects additional donations from the Advisory Board (there are nine members).
  • Within the Fund the Organization has created a Memorial Society. To be listed as Members of the Society, donors must make a gift of $5,000 or more.
  • Everyone who contributes to the initial $100,000 goal will be recognized for decades to come as the Founders of the Endowment (minimum gift to be so recognized is $5,000).
  • The mission of the Organization is:

The Organization promotes conservation of the environment in Interior and Arctic Alaska through advocacy, education, and sustainable resource stewardship.

  • Specifics about the Organization's current work:
    • The Organization is the leading conservation voice for the 180 million acres that comprise the vast regions of Interior and Arctic Alaska.
    • Founded in 1971 by a group of concerned residents and noted conservationists, the Organization's mission is to promote conservation of the environment and sustainable resource stewardship in Interior and Arctic Alaska through advocacy and education.
    • Today, the Organization is the quintessential grassroots organization, with an eleven-member Board of Directors, nine Advisory Board members, eight staff, more than 100 active volunteers, and over 1,000 contributing members.
    • Currently the Organization is working on:
      • Water quality and wildlife affected by coal bed methane mining
      • Global warming/climate change in the Arctic and Sub-Arctic
      • Arctic wilderness and wildlife issues
      • Supporting a healthy boreal forest ecosystem
      • Protecting Denali Park and its borderlands
      • Mining, both hard rock and waste rock
