Wellcome Trust: Research and Development for Affordable Healthcare in India Initiative
The Wellcome Trust, based in the UK, is dedicated to achieving extraordinary improvements in human and animal health through support of the brightest minds in biomedical research and the medical humanities. The Trust’s Research and Development for Affordable Healthcare in India initiative supports translational research projects that will deliver safe and effective healthcare products for India, and potentially other markets, at affordable costs.
The initiative encourages innovations that extend access to care to the greatest numbers of beneficiaries. Projects covering any aspect of technology development for healthcare will be considered, including diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines, medical devices and regenerative medicine. Proposals drawing on the disciplines of the physical sciences, math, and engineering, as well as biomedicine, are equally encouraged.
For-profit or nonprofit institutions, governmental or non-governmental organizations, and international organizations operating within the territory of India are eligible to apply. Initial inquiries are accepted throughout the year.
