Cynthia Adams has been a fundraiser for over 35 years. Working directly for nonprofits and as a fundraising consultant, Ms. Adams specializes in building bridges between funders and grantseekers. She strongly believes that successful grantseeking requires a thorough understanding of the funders and sound knowledge of the playing field. Her life's work has been to level that playing field, creating an opportunity for all nonprofit organizations to access the wealth of grant opportunities across the United States. GrantStation was conceived from this basic philosophy. Ms. Adams experience includes:

Luther Adams is a composer, so she also listens to a

After twenty-two years on the Oklahoma prairie, Amanda developed a fondness for mountains and bummed around several before landing in Fairbanks and completing her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She joined GrantStation in April of 2008, where she quickly made her mark by spearheading the research and development of the Infrastructure Database for the state of Washington. Her diverse past work experience equips her to make a mean cocktail, teach the finer points of creative writing, or copy edit linguistics texts while leading a rousing round of “My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean.”
Contact Amanda if you represent a state government or state government agency and would like to announce a request for proposals. State governments may also contact Amanda in order to post appropriations funding protocols. Amanda can also help grantmakers list information on GrantStation about their international grantmaking programs as well as update existing grantmaker profiles in our database.
Deja
Goerger Decompression Specialist
Renowned for her singular eyes (one is blue and one is brown), Deja sauntered into the GrantStation offices in late 2006, but didn’t officially join the staff until mid-2007. With over a decade of Alaskan experience, she brings a fearsome bark or friendly tail wag to her duties greeting all office visitors. She enjoys long walks with our Research Director, lounging in the sun, and cadging people food (muffins, cereal, pizza bones) off her unsuspecting co-workers.
Contact Deja if you have questions about the best squirrel-spotting areas in Fairbanks or tips for charming treats out of delivery people.
Julie Kaufman has ten years’ experience in fundraising consulting, during which shespecialized in funding research and funding strategy development for nonprofit organizations. As Research Director, Julie spends countless hours with her team ofresearchers poring through publications, delving deeply into online philanthropic resources, and talking directly with grantmakers to develop and maintain thousands of national and international funder profiles. Her exhaustive research process, discerning attention to detail, and expansive knowledge of grantmakers affords GrantStation Members with the most timely and comprehensive funder information. Julie holds an M.A. in Community Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Sara has been with GrantStation over one year and brings with her the experience of executive director for a local nonprofit. She has over ten years of research experience with the Federal Government and in her spare time she plumbs the depths of quantum physics studies. Sara is also an experienced Lighter Than Air (read: hot-air balloon) pilot. She is held together with duck tape and staples, stitches, and stainless steel ring clips.
Contact Sara if you’re interested in purchasing a GrantStation Membership, if you have questions regarding your existing Membership, including misplaced usernames and passwords, or if you would like to schedule a personal tour of the website. Members can also address any billing questions to Sara.
Don was a Christmas gift to GrantStation in 2005, when
he began doing the programming and database management
required to support the content on GrantStation.com. He
spends most of his time scrambling to figure out how to
implement the creative ideas of the brains behind GrantStation
to enhance the value to our members. In his free time,
Don writes for technology trade journals, speaks at industry
conferences, and travels Alaska by dog sled, skis, whitewater
canoe and kayak, and foot. He is president of The Second
Chance League, a nonprofit sleddog rescue group in Fairbanks,
and is on the board of two other nonprofits, Fairbanks
Paddlers and the Alaska Skijor and Pulk Association.
Angel has been with GrantStation for nearly seven years (and we don’t know what she’ll do if she gets an itch!), serving originally as Membership Coordinator. In 2006, Angel was promoted to Vice President of Sales and continues to oversee our customer service, work with our Co-Brand partners, and develop sales. Angel brings over thirty years of experience working with the public in a variety of capacities and serves on several nonprofit boards. She and her husband Mark also founded The Cutting Edge in 2000, a local machine shop and blade sharpening service. In her spare time, Angel helps coordinate annual fundraising events in the community.
Contact Angel if your organization is interested in distributing the GrantStation Insider (our weekly e-newsletter) to your e-list. If your organization is already partnering with GrantStation and you have additional questions or are interested in learning more about our MVP or GS-TAP programs, you can also contact Angel. aknapp@grantstation.com
Katy joined GrantStation in 2005 after completing her Master of Fine Arts in fiction at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In previous professional lives, Katy hawked newspapers, bagged groceries, reserved volleyball courts, edited tax law and textbooks, and taught college composition. She brings a meticulous attention to detail to her research and revision of GrantStation’s Find-a-Funder database and Tracks to Success articles.
Contact Katy if you represent a grantmaker and would like to review your profile in our database, if you would like us to include an announcement for an upcoming grant deadline on GrantStation’s website, or if you encounter any problems with the content on our site.
After retiring from ten years with the School District
in Barrow, Alaska, and various other employment, Carol
made the decision (mistake?) to take some accounting classes
to help with her husband's retirement business. Somehow,
she was sucked into working as a bookkeeper for a local
nonprofit for five years, and has now been with GrantStation
since 2006.
Kevin C. Peters
Ex-Research Specialist
Formerly GrantStation's lead state, federal, and international researcher and editor of the GrantStation International Insider, Kevin has decided to stop writing about foreign countries and actually move to one of them. He now acts as GrantStation's lead consultant abroad and one-man mobile uplink unit on such breaking news as the cost of paella in Spain or the current weather in Sumatra. He wishes that he had been paid in Euros back when he was on the regular payroll.
After six years at a local NPR affiliate, Jeremy tried his hand at retail sales and formed a computer repair organization that specialized in “bringing tech support to you”. He was initiated into the madcap world of GrantStation through that business and was brought fully into the GrantStation fold in July 2008. Along with maintaining the GrantStation website, he also produces and hosts General Protection Fault: Computer Talk from the Last Frontier, a web-based radio program aimed at providing computer talk that everyone can use.
Jeremy handles any internal issues which arise on the company's computers and network. In addition, he is responsible for researching the federal and international world of giving and is editor of the GrantStation International Insider. Contact Jeremy if you would like to have information about your international grantmaking program listed on GrantStation or included in the GrantStation International Insider.
